Hubungan Karakteristik Penderita Diabetes Melitus Terhadap Tingkat Ketajaman Penglihatan Di RSUD Langsa

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic with characteristic hyperglicemia that occurs due to abnormal insulin secretion, insulin action or both. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of the characteristic of people with diabetes mellitus on visual acuity in the general hospital Langsa.This research uses analytic design with cross sectional approach. Sampling using accidental sampling with a sample of 71 people. Patient design with are diabetes mellitus patiens who were taken to the Internist Polyclinical in the general hospital Langsa in Januari-Februari 2013. Some of the questions asked on the long suffering patiens with diabetes mellitus, age, sex, education level and accuption. Visual acuity measurements performed using snellen card, of the result showed that about 45% of the number of samples measured visual acuity in low vision categorized by WHO (2012). Conclusion there is a relationship between the age of DM patiens with visual acuity (p=0,002) and there is a long association between DM with visual acuity (p=0,000). This is consistent with the theory that the most common manifestations of the disease DM is retinopaty diabetic which can cause a decrease in visual acuity Key words : diabetes mellitus, visual acuity.
